Fantastic Quality, Highly Sensitive Images
The E4 packs a real punch in terms of image quality and sensitivity considering its relatively low price. The E4 delivers accurate images that respond quickly and smoothly to sudden increases/drops in the temperature of the object being assessed thanks to the high thermal sensitivity and 80x60 pixel detector.
MSX Image Enhancement
Unique to the FLIR range of thermal imaging cameras, MSC technology (or multi spectral dynamic imaging) takes already high quality images and enchances them to deliver incredibly crisp, sharp and more usable images.
By combining the kind of digital image you'd take with a conventional digital camera with a high quality thermal image, FLIR's MSX technology allows the user to pinpoint specific areas of concern much more easily than ever before. The following video from FLIR will give you an idea of what's possible with MSX...
Which FLIR EX model is right for me?
All available through The Tape Store, FLIR's EX series is made up of four variants. The E4 is the entry level model whilst the E8 is top of the range. Each model has different levels of capability and functionality and, whilst the temptation might be to go for the best you can afford, it might be that a slightly cheaper model offers all the functionality you need and more.
Whilst all models include IR imaging, visual imaging and FLIR's incredible MSX image enhancement technology, key differences between the models include image resolution, thermal sensitivity and the range of measurement or image modes available.
Gone are the days when it seemed like you needed a degree to operate a thermal camera. FLIR's EX series are incredibly easy to use even for those who've never picked up a thermal camera in their life.
Ergonomic and comfortable to use thanks to its innovative 'pistol grip', the E4 operates on a 'point and shoot' basis... simply point the device at the area to be measured and press the trigger. The thermal image you've just taken (along with the temperature data) is then stored within the onboard memory. You can either keep it there for on-screen viewing or can download it to a PC and view/manipulate them in FLIR Tools, the software that comes free with the E4.
For simplicity, only four buttons have been included on the back of the device - all of the advanced functions of the E4 are accessed with ease from here.
