The Stanley Powerlock Classic 3m is a metric only, three metre pocket tape. Or should that be the metric only, three metre pocket tape? No exaggeration, the Stanley Powerlock range has sold more products than any other production tape measure in the world.
The curved steel blade (EEC Class II accuracy) is coated with Mylar (patented by Stanley) for up to ten times the durability of a standard lacquered blade and is tipped by a conventional but super-strong 3 rivet, automatically adjustable tru-zero end hook.
Whilst just as recognisable as it always has been, the modern Powerlock Classic case is more compact than it used to be, coming in high-impact ABS plastic rather than steel... still chrome plated, of course! The reduction in size does not make for any reductions in quality but does make for a much more ergonomic and comfortable grip.
The Micro Powerlock tape has a Mylar polyester film coated blade for durability. The tru-zero end hook has 3-rivets. The chrome plated plastic case is more compact than the Powerlock Classic, and has a smooth, quick-grab auto-locking mechanism and a conventional steel belt clip.

This tape's name says it all really as it's been around forever. its suitable for everyone and pretty much everything. I've only ever used Powerlocks.

Not that I hadn't read the description or was in any way surprised, but it would have been a lot nicer if it had been made out of steel.
Great to have all metric though and feels pretty sturdy.
Measured against a brand new 5m version there is a discrepancy of about 0.2mm which is totally liveable with.
And if this were a wish list I would ask for the blade to be white. Easier to read and looks a little classier....

Like many of you out there I've used Stanley Powerlocks for years and would never use anything different. I'm happy to say that this one is just as good as the old metal bodied ones despite my initial worries over durability. I've dropped it a fair few times and it's still going strong and has a nice smooth action. Quality service from the tape store.
