As the inventors of the first fibreglass surveyors' tape, Komelon have always been at the forefront of fibreglass tape measure manufacturer (and tape measure technology in general). This 50m/165ft model is evidence of that.
The fibreglass blade is made up 6 distinct layers for maximum durability - chief amongst which is the fibreglass itself. Unlike many other tapes available for a similar price from other retailers, the Komelon features a very high strand count (i.e. the number of strands within the tape) which results in a very strong, stretch-resistant blade. What's more, being fibreglass, this tape is also heat, tear and water resistant. A series of PVC coatings allows this tape to shrug off the effects of scuffing/abrasion better than many of its competitors.
Both metric and imperial markings are printed in black and red with the blade itself being yellow on one side, white on the other. In going for a two-colour design Komelon have made it almost impossible to make mistakes due to accidentally mixing up the metric and imperial sides. The blade is accurate to EC Class II and is tipped by a true-zero folding end hook.
The case is made from impact-resistant ABS plastic and further protected by rubber bumpers on each corner. A soft-grip handle and 3x geared rewind mechanism make this tape a joy to use on a regular basis.
