The Stanley Micro Powerlock 5m is one of this manufacturer’s most recognisable products. Mylar coated to provide up to ten times more longevity than traditional coverings, the blade resists marking during use and damage from abrasion is reduced.
Competitively priced with a significant saving off list, the tape is categorised as being of European Union Class II accuracy meaning that it is comparable to many other much more expensive alternatives. At 5m long the blade is adequate for most users... in fact, tapes of this length are the most frequently bought tape measures across the UK across all categories of models and manufacturers!
In common with all the Stanley tape measures sold by The Tape Store, the self- adjusting ‘tru- zero’ hook is an integral feature of this model. This attribute enables the user to make accurate measurements both internally and externally. The hook is attached to the blade by 3 rivets so making this blade significantly stronger than many shorter tapes on the market today.
The case of this model is made from hard wearing shock resistant plastic and incorporates a steel belt clip to help the user keep it safe. Compared to the case of the standard Powerlock (the Powerlock Classic) this particular tape is more compact making it more comfortable to handle and allowing the user to maintain a more secure grip on the tape.

Great. But not metal.

Not that I hadn't read the description or was in any way surprised, but it would have been a lot nicer if it had been made out of steel.
Great to have all metric though and feels pretty sturdy.
Measured against a brand new 3m version there is a discrepancy of about 0.2mm which is totally liveable with.
And if this were a wish list I would ask for the blade to be white. Easier to read and looks a little classier....

I would actively encourage other people to shop through this website - very easy to use and superb customer service and advice. This particular tape measure is smaller than my previous metal cased Stanley but seems particularly well made.
