With all the functionality, quality and reliability we've come to expect from Stanley and its Powerlock range in particular, the revolutionary Powerlock Top Reader tape features the added advantage of a clear viewing window on the top of the case. This feature combines with a known-length case to make this the ideal tape for those taking internal measurements on a regular basis. Carpet fitters, for example, will be able to butt the case up against the skirting board rather than bending the blade. There's not even any need to add on the length of the case to your measurements. Instead the length of the case is taken into account by the measurement you see within the viewing window.
The fact that you no longer need to bend the blade to take accurate measurements means that significantly less stress is placed on the blade. This plus the Mylar coating of this tape measure's blade means that it could last up to ten times longer than a conventional, lacquered blade.
The blade is tipped by a conventional floating hook and is fixed in place with three rivets for extra strength. As with all Powerlocks this tape also comes with a handy belt clip and an impact resistant chrome-plated case.

Well thought out tape measure

In my experience tapes break/crack over time when their bent repeatedly to measure into skirting boards etc. This is a proper internal tape measure that means you don't have to bend it. A great idea and nice quality. Good service and product adviceat the Tape store, I won't be going to BQ for a tape again.

Not great for the money. Lock is rubbish, it's quite big for a 5 metre and the scale in the top window is upside down. General build quality is poor.
The Tape Store says - Hi Gaz - sorry you aren't 100% impressed by this tape. The lock is exactly the same as all other Stanley Powerlock tapes on the market - it may be that you've simply got a faulty one as we've never had another complaint. If you'd like to return it to us we'll replace it free of charge including your postage.
The window isn't actually upside down - it's designed to be that way. When taking left to right measurements you don't need to use the window as you read the measurements directly off the blade. When taking right to left measurements you use the window, at which point the window is the right way up.
In terms of the size, we do make the dimensions of this tape very clear on our website. The case is larger than the average 5m tape simply because of it's unique purpose - the viewing window needs a slightly larger case. We'll get in touch with you directly to discuss.

Just as the other review on here said this tape measure is the one to have if you measure up for and fit blinds. Arrived the next day as well.

Fantastic tape that makes you wonder why all tapes aren't like this? Why bend the tape when measuring up to walls etc. when you can just measure directly from the wall with one of these. Just read the measurements from the viewing window in the top. No need to add on the length of the case or bend the blade and risk breaking it.

I have a window blinds company, I have been using this model of tape for the last 6/7 years, I left my tape in a customers house, bought 2 from the tape store.
This tape is ideal for me, allows you to measure wall to wall without the need to bend the tape into the wall.
The tape reader at the top makes my job a lot easier and accurate.
