Cable Detection EZiCAT i500xf Cable & Pipe Locator

Part of Cable Detection's advanced 'xf' range of cable locators, the EZiCAT i500xf combines all the functionality of the i550 (such as depth indication) with the added benefit of current level measurement and low frequency detection (512/640hz - when used in conjunction with an 'XF' range signal generator) for fainter, more distant signals.

A real step up from its sibling, the i500xf makes tracing buried services quick and easy even over longer distances. It can be used to trace electrical cables, telecoms cables, conductive pipework (e.g. steel, iron etc.) and even non-conductive services such as concrete, clay or UPVC when used in conjunction with the relevant accessories/signal generator.

Class Leading Technology

The xf series of cable locators are built with long distance detection in mind as well as the location of deep, distant drain/sewer inspection cameras. The addition of two more frequencies (set at 640 and 512hz as emitted by a compatible XF range signal generator) has boosted the original device's state of the art digital processing technology and automatic controls and transformed it into a highly accomplished long distance service location tool.

The key features of the i500xf include...

  • Power Mode - Common to most cable avoidance tools, this mode detects charged power cables below the service.
  • Radio Mode - When a signal generator is connected to or placed on the ground above a service, signals are passed along those services. Radio mode allows the operator to detect and trace those signals.
  • Hazard Zone - This innovative features alerts the user to those services that are closest to the service. It's these services that pose the greatest risk to life.
  • Pinpoint Assist - Pinpoint assist stores the highest reading obtained on the SSI (Signal Strength Indicator) whilst carrying out a trace for between 0 and 5 seconds. This can help the operative identify a service's location quickly and efficiently. It also adjusts its own sensitivity making it easier and faster to locate services
  • Signal Strength Indicator (SSI) - The SSI is a numerical value displayed on the large, backlit LCD display. The higher the reading the closer you are to the service with the highest reading indicating you are directly over it. This mode is particularly useful when used in conjunction with a signal generator and/or a sonde (all available through this site).
  • Auto Mode - Detects both radio and power signals - ideal for a quick scan of a new area.
  • Additional Low Frequency, Long Distance Detection Abilities - The two additional frequencies common to the xf range allow the user to detect buried services over longer distances. This makes the i500xf particularly suited to the detection/location of sondes and sewer camera systems that may be buried below the detection range of your average CAT.
  • Mode Lock - The xf range locators start up in the last mode they were in before they were turned off.

Additional features also include a built in self-test function designed to ensure the device is operating as it should before use, a yearly service indicator ensuring the device remains properly maintained and a super-clear, backlit LCD display that makes using the i550xf a doddle in all light conditions.

User Friendly

As with all models in the EZiCAT range, the i500xf is wonderfully simple to use - it detects and interprets electromagnetic signals with ease, letting the user know exactly where they are in relation to their current position. The automatic controls and easy to understand display make this tool a joy to use and very easy to pick up and master.

This Device Is Particularly Suited To...

Whilst the majority of EZiCAT users are in the construction, groundworks and civil engineering sectors, the i500xf is particularly suited to those needing to trace buried services across long distances or at greater depths. Many sewers and drains are located below the depth range of your average locator. The additional two low frequencies (512hz & 640hz) make the i500xf a particular favourite with sewer inspection/repair teams being ideal for detecting deeply buried sondes and inspection cameras.
