Measure with P2P technology

Advanced sensors in the S910's Smart Base allow the user to measure from one point to any other, calculating and using angles to take measurements that other manufacturers could only dream of.

Wall and roof area measurement

A real step up in functionality, by pairing the Disto with the tripod and adaptor (included), the user can measure roof and wall areas remotely - ideal for photovoltaic/solar cell installers, roofers, painters and decorators, external rendering specialists, scaffolders and more!

Draw into CAD and transfer measurement data on the fly

Unique to the S910, the user can draw directly into their CAD software (currently AutoCAD (full version - not LT) and BricsCAD compatible) as well as transport measurement data as it's generated producing drawings, documentation and pictures on their computer in real time.

Save measurement data in CAD DXF format

Unlike any other laser measure on the market, the S910 can save measurement data as a DXF file that can then be transferred to your PC by the USB connection. This can then be opened and manipulated in AutoCAD. A revolution in laser measurement technology, this will increase efficiency, improving communication and efficiency overall.

Measure and document with pictures

The built in camera allows users to take height, width and area measurements with a picture using the touch screen display and, if necessary, the 4x digital zoom. What's more the user can also take screen shots of measurements and the exact object measured as a photograph. These can be used for reference once back in the office and can even be dropped into reports.

Excellent service and Disto s910

The service from, The Tape Store, was amazing and my order was delivered for a site meeting the next day.

The s910 is a great piece of kit. I've used its .dxf file creation capabilities to successfully survey sites that wouldn't warrant the use of a total station. I would seriously consider this if you are looking to carry out one-man surveys of small sites.

There are a couple of things to bear in mind when you are creating a .dxf file and although Leica does mention them deep in the instruction manual or in a random section of their website, I thought it might be helpful to add them here:

- Always calibrate the compass before making .dxf files.

- Use white markers as reference points if you are surveying outside.

- When selecting your points, the first measured point is the reference for the drawing. The second point defines the x-axis. The y-axis and z-axis are calculated from this. So you need to ensure that the line between your first and second point spans across the whole site you intend to survey otherwise you will get squashed results when you bring the .dxf into CAD.

The S910 is quite literally amazing. I cannot stress how much time this will save me - just one small job done and I've saved a good hour or two within CAD. Not to be confused with other Distos. This was an upgrade from a Disto D5 which, in its defence, is an amazing tool in itself but had been dropped one too many times. But this is a different ball game entirely. If your business, like mine, revolves around taking large numbers of measurements and if time is money then I would seriously consider this tool. Also, I can't commend The Tape Store staff highly enough. From start to finish their service and extensive product advice has been second to none. THIS is why you buy specialist tools like this from specialists.
