£150 Million 'City View' development in Salford

news

21st September 2016

A £150 million tower block scheme labeled 'City View' has been submotted to Salford City Council for approval. The proposed development will be situated at the junction of Oldfield Road and the A57 Regent Road, the link between Salford and Manchester. If approved, work will commence in the spring of 2017 and will cover almost 600,000 sq. ft of space.

Plans suggest a dramatic centrepiece for the project: four towers, standing several storeys high, located on the main approach into Manchester city centre. Differing in height, from 8 storeys to a magnificent 26 storeys, the towers will house residential units and leisure facilities, making it one of the most desirable new addresses in central Manchester.

Once completed, the City View development will boast almost 500 apartments, of between one and three bedrooms, 37 townhouses, 150 private car parking spaces, 200 secure cycle spaces and leisure facilities including a gym, coffee shop, residents' garden and concierge service.

Architects for the proposed development are Manchester-based Fletcher Rae. The company's joint managing director, Andrew Rae, said: "This proposal is intended to repair the severed link that exists between these communities and developments and create a much-needed activity node for movement between these key places in the city."

He added that the residential community “will act as a gateway into Salford” and “repair broken links between [Manchester and Salford].”

David Green, director of Vivere Group, the developers responsible for City View, said: "The City View development will tie in with the Middlewood Locks masterplan, the Whilburn Wharf project and the One Regent Road scheme. The site sits at the gateway of Manchester and will give a very impressive appearance to visitors and residents entering the city from the east via Regent Road."
