Plans for a third PRS (private rented sector) development have been submitted as part of the Liverpool Water’s regeneration scheme in north Liverpool. Plaza 1821 - named for the year the Prince’s Dock was opened - will join two ongoing multi-storey tower projects to address the need for residential accommodation in the city centre.
The multi-million pound project is headed up by developers, Peel Land & Property, and is part of a grand plan to regenerate Liverpool’s northern dock neighbourhood. The project, estimated to cost in the region of £5.5bn, will provide more than six hundred brand new one and two bedroom apartment units.
If approved, Plaza 1821 will join sister buildings, The Lexington and The Hive, on William Jessop Way. These gargantuan developments, 34-storeys and 30-storeys respectively, will dominate the Liverpool dockscape and change the face of northern Liverpool forever. It has not been revealed how many storeys Plaza 1821 will reach but the project is set to cost £21m, with the end product purchased by housing giant Regenda.
Liverpool-based housing provider, Regenda, have built more than 500 properties in the north-west in the last three years but Plaza 1821 will be the biggest single investment for the company to date. Peel Land & Property will be responsible for the construction of the tower, alongside Moda Living for The Lexington and Your Housing Group for The Hive.
Martin Davies, Regenda’s development director, said: “Plaza 1821 is a landmark project for Regenda. It marks our biggest ever investment – made even more special because it’s right here in Liverpool, where we’re proudly based. The vision for Liverpool Waters is truly spectacular, something that will further enhance our city region.”
Peel Land & Property development director Neil Baumber added: “Plaza 1821 is the latest and significant piece in the jigsaw for Peel’s vision at Liverpool Waters, as it will bring much needed quality residential apartments to a vibrant waterfront location.
“Liverpool Waters is an important part of our Strategic Waters strategy and is one of the most dynamic regeneration projects in the City’s history. The proposals for Plaza 1821 will bring us one step closer to achieving our vision to create a world class destination where people can live, work and play.”
