Without doubt, Leica Geosystems' DISTO ™ collection comprises the most technically advanced, flexible and reliable laser measures in the world. Robust, rugged and fit for the task both indoors and outdoors, all Leica DISTO ™ laser measures are IP54-rated as a minimum. In other words, they are all splash proof and dust resistant. Some DISTOs are even IP65-rated meaning that they water-jet proof and dust-tight. IP65 units can even be rinsed off under a tap after a hard day's work.

The entire Leica DISTO ™ range measures in both metric and imperial units, come with a free carrying case, hand lanyard, batteries and, of course, a set of batteries. They all measure both areas and volumes (amongst other things) and all come with Leica's famous 3 year, no-quibble warranty (see further down this page for more information).

Logical and simple to use, most products in the DISTO ™ range store between the last 10 and 30 measurements taken (no more scrappy bits of paper), all are wonderfully compact, come with full comprehensive manuals and convenient, easy to understand quick start guides. Crucially, however, most models have guaranteed accuracy to +/- 1mm. What's more, Leica DISTOs ™, unlike most of their competitors, have this accuracy certified  to ISO16331-1.

ISO16331-1 - Guaranteed Accuracy and Range

So what is ISO16331-1? Well, when the first Leica DISTO ™ was launched 20 years Leica were pretty much the only kid on the block; the only manufacturer making construction laser measures for the commercial market. Over recent years, however, the popularity of the DISTO ™ has seen other companies around the world try to capitalise on this growth market. Whilst of course there are reputable manufacturers out there other than Leica, there have been many instances of accuracy figures being not quite what they've been made out to be.

Some cheaper products are tested only under laboratory conditions where their makers' claims of +/- 1mm can be validated. Leica's testers, however, test their laser measures both in the laboratory and in real world conditions to guarantee the accuracy of their product. The ISO Standard awarded to the DISTO ™ range provides an independently verified guarantee that your Leica measure as accurately as possible across a range of lighting and reflective conditions.

The Leica Disto Range

Here at The Tape Store we stock the entire DISTO ™ range, offering a combination of reliability, accuracy and functionality across a broad price range. Brand new for 2014, the Leica Disto D110 has rapidly become the most popular model in the range. Focusing on simplicity, durability and accuracy, even the most inexperienced users can master the D110 in a matter of minutes.

One and two steps up are the Leica Disto D2 and D210 - both offer fantastic levels of accuracy, enhanced functionality over its smaller brother and IP54 protection (water splash and dust resistance) as standard. It's also ultra-compact at 114 x 50 x 27mm. Far from bargain basement, the D210 features every last bit of the quality and innovation that comes with its more expensive bigger brothers.

The Leica DISTO ™ X310, one up from the D210, is not only IP65-rated (water and dust jet proof - drop tested to 2m) with a range of 120m, it also features a revolutionary 360° tilt sensor enabling it to measure inclines and indirect measurements with ease.

One step further on again is the superb Leica DISTO  ™ D3a BT which combines a whopping 100m range with Leica's patented Smart Horizontal Mode ™ for measurements where obstacles restrict direct measurement. With the added benefit of Bluetooth connectivity for wireless data transfer between PCs, pocket PCs and even Android mobile devices the D3a BT truly is hard to beat.

The incredible Leica DISTO ™ D510 is not only IP65 rated, it also comes with Leica's fantastic Pointfinder technology with 4 x digital zoom, allowing the user to target measuring points visually at distances of up to 200m. The D510, unlike any other comparable laser measure currently on sale today, integrates perfectly with the current generation of Apple mobile devices (iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 4S onwards). For those who require even more functionality, range and flexibility, the D810 Touch and new S910 deliver a truly incredible, unparalleled measurement experience.

Leica Distos for Indoor Use

Whilst all distos are ideally suited to taking indoor measurements, if the vast majority of your measurements are being taken inside you could save quite a bit of money by option for either the D110, D2, D210, X310 or D3a BT.

With their guaranteed +/- 1.5 mm accuracy, 60m range, 5,000 measurements between battery changes, small size and fantastic range of features, the D110 and D2 are not only the cheapest of the DISTO ™ range, they're also the most popular. D210 offers more advanced functionality, enhanced range and accuracy for a modest premium whilst the X310 delivers 120m range, a 360 degree tilt sensor for measurement of inclines and multi-function and an auto-sensing end piece for measuring from corners and slots. The D3a BT, however, with its incredible Smart Horizontal Mode for measuring horizontal distances past physical obstacles (amongst other features) is ever popular in no small part thanks to its AutoCAD plugin.

Leica Distos for Outdoor Use

There are four laser measures within the DISTO ™ range which, whilst working perfectly well indoors, are also ideally suited to life outdoors. These are the D410, the D510, the D810 Touch and the incredible new S910. The Leica DISTO ™ D410 is ideal for those who need to perform traditional laser measure measurements (i.e. linear distances) in an external environment. This great value tool is IP65-rated (water jet proof and dust tight), features a 4x digital zoom, accuracy to +/- 1mm and a range of 150m.

One step up from the D410 but a world away in terms of functionality, the D510 features 4x digital zoom, accuracy to +/- 1mm and a range of 200m. Bluetooth Smart connectivity allows this device to be connected to compatible iPads, iPhones and Android devices whilst the free Disto Sketch app allows the user to draw to-scale floor plans on the fly. Crucially, thanks to the built in tilt sensor, the D810 can measure heights and height profiles.

The D810 Touch was, until recently, the king of laser measures delivering a previously unseen level of functionality. The first laser measure in the world with a touch screen, the D810 has only recently been surpassed by another model in the Leica range - the S910. With the D810 customers can measure on screen with pictures, can physically take photographs, overlay measurements on top of them for reference and can then export those images/measurements by USB cable. With the D810 you get all the benefits of the D510 and much, much more.

Brand new for 2015, the revolutionary new Disto S910 will measure almost anything, almost anywhere. Without competition in the marketplace, this truly is an incredible measuring device. If you have any problems with your DISTO that are due to design fault or manufacturer error and not accidental or intentional damage due to mishandling or wear and tear then you will be covered. All you need to do is contact The Tape Store and we will deal with your warranty claim on your behalf. Please note that the warranty is with Leica Geosystems and not with The Tape Store.
