Hultafors Tape Measures
Hultafors, like Fisco (who they acquired in 2008), focus primarily on accuracy when it comes to designing tape measures... and for good reason! The key consideration for most professionals when picking a new tape should be quite how accurate it is. After all, that’s why you need a tape measure in the first place!
Using their own bespoke manufacturing processes and special inkjet printing processes Hultafors tapes all meet either European Union accuracy Class I or Class II – an independent guarantee of accuracy. Further information on accuracy and what Class I and Class II actually mean see our Frequently Asked Questions section.
Not happy simply with accuracy, Hultafors have over 125 years’ experience making tools comfortable for maximum usability. All Hultafors tapes come with ergonomic handles or grips that makes using them a pleasure, day in and day out. Their ethos? To produce tools that make you life and your job easier and more enjoyable... something that can clearly be seen in every tape measure they produce.
Like many other high-quality Swedish tool brands (e.g. Bahco), Hultafors take research, development and innovation very seriously. The focus with this firm, however, is not in the laboratory, at least not initially. From the start to the very finish of a new product’s development, their product engineers are talking to and working with tradesmen like you. Professionals, craftsmen and enthusiasts... people who understand what they need out of a tool, what’s really important... not just how many they can churn out or how much profit they can make on each one. Whilst obviously important, all the mechanical stress testing and lab work is no substitute for talking to the end user.
Opening its doors in 1883, Hultafors began fabricating wooden folding rules; precision instruments used even today but more so prior to the invention of the tape measure we know and love today. Thousands of these devices leave their factory every year and, even through the 1970s, the majority of Hultafors’ output was fabricated in wood.
Hultafors have undergone a major programme of expansion over the last 30+ years having acquired a number of smaller but equally reputable firms along the way. Whilst you may not have heard of some of them, a few of the more well known brands include Snickers Workwear, Wibe Ladders and, of course, Fisco, the British tape measure manufacturer.
